If you’re a Curseforge player at heart and love adding Minecraft mods to your game, then perhaps Lunar Client could be of assistance. With our latest mod-loading update, you'll be able to install Minecraft mods directly from the Lunar Client Launcher from sites like Modrinth and, of course… Curseforge! In this article, we’ll be going over the two methods you can use to import your favorite Curseforge mods into Lunar Client.

Mod-loading with Lunar Client

Since 2024, Lunar Client has supported mod-loading, with players being able to import their favorite Fabric mods into the game while using Lunar Client features. Do note that some Curseforge mods won’t work with the client due to its current compatibility. Even if you’re unable to use our Lunar features with some of your favorite Minecraft mods, you can easily disable ‘Lunar features’ in the profile settings. To access the profile settings, simply click on the version you’re using and click on the ⚙ icon. From there, scroll down till you find “Use Lunar Features” and press disable.

Adding Curseforge Mods with Lunar Client

Adding Curseforge Mods has never been easier. By simply dragging and dropping your favorite mods inside our launcher, you’ll be able to play with your favorite mods in no time. We also provide players with a built-in explore page inside our launcher, providing users with more flexibility on what mods they would like to install and where. This page can be found on the left-side of the launcher by clicking on the blocks icon. This makes the installation process much easier as you don’t need to stress about finding the correct version and necessary dependencies needed for the mod to work. All of the hard work is already done for you by Lunar Client!

Installation Process

Let’s get started with the installation process. Before we begin, ensure that you have Lunar Client installed. Lunar Client can be installed on all major operating systems, including Windows, MacOS, and Linux.

Mod-loading through the explore page

Once you’ve installed Lunar Client, you will notice little icons to the left-side of your launcher. These icons represent the different pages you can navigate. To get started with mod-loading, click on the blocks icon that says “Explore”.

Mods & Modpacks

Inside the Explore page, you'll find a plethora of mods, modpacks, resourcepacks, and shader packs you can download at your disposal. If you click on the top-left corner where it says mods, you’ll notice a dropdown box that provides you with the other three options. You will also notice two options on the right-side of your launcher. You can choose between Curseforge and Modrinth, the two websites that allows you to download your favorite mods. Installing the Mods

Once you’ve found the Minecraft mod of your choice you want to install, click on the green install button on the right side of the launcher and you’ll be prompted to choose which profile you want to install the mod in. The launcher will give you a list of compatible profiles that the Minecraft mod can be installed on.

You can also create your own Modpack by clicking on the “Create” button next to the search bar. This option allows you to change the game version and loader of your choice. It will also give you the option to ‘Use Lunar Features’ which includes many of the core Lunar Client mods and features while including your cosmetics and emotes. If you experience any issues when launching with this feature on, we recommend disabling it.

Once you’ve chosen the profile of your choice, you'll be prompted to choose a version.We suggest installing the mod versions with the “Recommended” tag. After you’ve chosen your version, click Next. You will then be given one final prompt, asking you to install any required dependencies for the Minecraft mod to work. After clicking “Install”, Lunar Client will automatically install your mod inside the appropriate game profile.

Manual Mod-Loading

If you wish to install Minecraft mods the old-fashioned way, Lunar Client can also help with that. First, download the Minecraft mod of your choice from either the Curseforge or Modrinth website, then you can drag and drop the mod inside the mod directory in our launcher. You can find the mod directory by going inside the version settings, then clicking on the folder icon.
