What Are Minecraft Color Codes?
Minecraft: Java Edition utilizes color codes, a series of numbers and letters prefixed by the symbol § or & symbol, to modify the color of in-game text. These color codes unlock a realm of customization, enabling players to express their creativity and individuality.
These codes unfortunately only represent colors within the Minecraft color palette, not the full spectrum of RGB colors. This palette, while more limited, is carefully designed to maintain the game's unique aesthetic. There are also blocks in the game that pair well with specific color codes, allowing for a cohesive visual experience.
How do I Use Minecraft Color Codes?
In Minecraft: Java Edition, color codes are primarily used by third-party content, as they're not directly accessible in Vanilla gameplay (example: Singleplayer). To use them, prefix text with the § or & symbol followed by the color code. For instance, §6 denotes gold.
Additionally, you can stack color codes to combine effects, by simply appending one code after another - with the ability to reset formatting with §r or &r.
