What is an Achievement?

Achievement in Minecraft: Java Edition are one of the ways used to track and reward player progress within a particular world. They are a series of tasks that the player can complete, ranging from simple tasks like opening your inventory for the first time to more complex ones like defeating the Ender Dragon. Each Achievement is connected and expands a tree-like visual representation of the progress made by a player.

Achievements provide a structured and fun way for players to learn the game mechanics and offer additional goals and challenges for experienced players. Achievements appear both in the chat and as a notification in the top-right corner of the screen when achieved.

It is important to note that Achievements are only available in versions prior to Minecraft 1.12. In 1.12, the World of Color Update, the Advancements system replaces the old Achievements system, with the new system being more complex and expansive.

How do I access the Achievements tab?

Achievements are tied to a specific world/server, and as such you can not be in the main menu to access your Achievements. When you are in a world or server, you can access the Achievements tab by doing the following:

  1. Open the pause menu by pressing ESC on your keyboard
  2. Click on the button next to statistics called Achievements
